Twelve Time Alabama High School State Finalists since first season in 2000

In the 17 years since it’s founding, Oak Mountain High School has built an incredible tradition of success in the boy’s soccer program. Since the first team in 2000, the program has captured six Alabama State Championships (2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2015, and 2016) and two National Championships – the only boy’s team in the state to have brought home a national soccer honor.

The true impact of the soccer program is shown by the number of former players who have gone on to play at the next level, for such a relatively young program. Over 32 former players have gone on to college opportunities and the school boasts one current alumnus, Chandler Hoffman, playing in Major League Soccer. Oak Mountain has created a powerhouse in what is typically thought of as a soccer backwater.

Additionally, the Eagles have played in 5 other state finals, with a run of playing in the championship game each season from 2011-2016. Oak Mountain has boasted the Gatorade Player of the Year three times: in 2007, 2008 (Chandler Hoffman), and 2012 (Chandler Stroupe).

In the 2014-2015 school year, Oak Mountain began competition in the brand new 7A classification, the highest classification in Alabama High School athletics, participating in Area 5. They won the inaugural 7A title in 2015, and went back to back by winning it again in 2016.
