The Oak Mountain Varsity Baseball Eagles lost a pitchers dual with the 7A James Clemens Jets 2-1 to split the double header played at Jacksonville State University Thursday evening. Oak Mountain’s record falls to 7-4 with the loss.
The Eagles scored their lone run of the night in the top of the 4th inning to take a 1-0 lead. Mitchell Pierce led off the inning getting hit by a pitch, and with 1 out advanced to second on a passed ball. Andrew Hunt then singled to left field with 2 outs to score Pierce.
The Jets claimed the lead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning. They took advantage of 2 singles, a walk, and 2 errors by the Eagles to score their 2 runs.
Mitchell Pierce and Andrew Hunt had the only 2 hits of the night for Oak Mountain, and Hunt the only RBI.
Steven Moraski took the hill for the Eagles, pitching the full 6 innings in the loss, allowing only 3 hits, 2 runs, and striking out 6.
