The “Cardiac Kids” strike again, as Cody Wells headed in a bouncing ball past the keeper with 5 minutes to play to give Oak Mountain (8-3, 3-0) a 1-nil victory over # 9 ranked Spain Park. The win gave Oak Mountain two consecutive 1-nil victories in the Metro Tournament, with late header goals by Wells the game-winner in both. The win was the Eagles’ sixth shutout in their last seven contests.

The last time these two teams met, they combined for 11 goals, and showed plenty of firepower. Tonight’s game was held in check with solid play from the back line for Oak Mountain– Seth Acton, Ben O’Neil, Ryan Webb, Wilson Rhodes and Kyle Burke–and stellar saves from Zay Brown in goal, who posted another clean sheet in the win.

Oak Mountain returns to play tomorrow in Metro action against # 4 ranked Mountain Brook High School. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Oak Mountain, but weather concerns may adjust the game time, and it could be an early contest.
